Form and Conventions print text

Form and Conventions

Text A-
Is a horror movie film poster for the movie 'Piranha'. This is shown through the bold text that is capitalized and it could be seen as intimidating by the audience. This contrasts to the background which is very dark which could depict a bad event occurring later in the movie. The audience can also tell this is a movie poster as there is a credit block in the bottom left hand corner which informs the audience of the actors and directors. On the poster there is a tagline which says "Lost river lake was a thriving resort until they discovered...", this would then entice the audience to watch the movie as they're already anticipated to find out what happens.
The fish is disproportionate to the women portraying it as terrifying and truly a monster. The women would be seen as a 'damsel in distress' as she is isolated and cannot see beneath her making her much more vulnerable.
The wavy text matched with the appearance of water.

Text B- is a magazine known as 'Heat', this is shown through the masthead which is in a large font and in the bright colour red to stand out to the audience. It also relates to the context of the magazine as 'heat' imply hot and the magazine is quite orientated around attractive women. 'Heat'  is also linked into friction so this could imply this is a gossip magazine which contain celebrities which has conflict between them.
The main cover line 'BIG WEIGHT CHANGES' is the second largest text after the masthead and is capitalized making it catch the audience's eye before anything else. It also anchors the meaning of the image above it which is also the main image allowing the reader to understand the meaning. This magazine doesn't have a colour scheme which would make it more appealing to the audience as the unorganised and bright colours would stand out to them enticing them to read the magazine.

Text c- is a CD album cover. The text on the cover is in a red box which makes it stand out to the audience and will be the first thing they see. In the box is text about the CD and the first two lines 'badly drawn boy.. One plus one is one' is in a larger font than the rest of the text making it more noticeable to the reader than the rest of the text. This box contrasts colour wise to the rest of the cover as it's quite dark colours like green and brown. The main image is open to interpretation and could portray a message to the audience, however it could give an insight of the genre of music or the artists personality.
The repetition of 'one' could tell the audience it's just about him, 'one' person.

Text D- is a cartoon comic strip, this is shown through the drawings which are cartoon like. It is also shown through the text, as all the text has been placed is speech bubbles around the comic book, this indicates to the audience that the character is speaking. This comic strip would be aimed at older men as it includes superheros as well as the colour scheme being relatively dull and simplistic therefore it wouldn't attract the younger people like little kids.

Text E- is an advert advertising hoovers, the audience can tell this because there a logo for the company stating 'Hoover' on the background image. This advert would be aimed at older people because it is quite complicated to understand as they've linked hoovers in with being on an aeroplane. 'For a product demo break the glass' is basically saying if you break the glass on an aeroplane then everything will be sucked out as the pressure is extremely high, so this could be saying that the hoovers they're advertising are extremely good and powerful.

Text F- is a book called 'The Girl who Kicked the Hornets' Nest', the audience can tell this by recognising the layout of the book with the main image, the title, the author's name and a review. The use of the main image blending into the background could suggest there is some sort of mystery to the book and with half her face being shadowed could also suggest that there is a much darker side to her, personality side. The author's name being the largest text on the front colour as well as in capitals and in the colour yellow makes it stand out against the background so the name is the first thing the audience sees and if they enjoy the author they'll be more likely to buy the book.  Also in the title certain words are in a bolder font as well as starting with a capital letter, this shows these words are important and as they're bolder they stand out first to the audience therefore are giving an insight to reader on what the book is about.

Stars and Representation

Stars and Representation

Katie Price has gone through many varied styles and different images in her lifetime in the public eye.

The first image is Katie Price in 1996, this is her in her naturalist form before she got her breast enlargements and some of her plastic surgery. This is because at this time she wasn't in the public eye therefore she wouldn't feel the need to look her best or meet anyone's expectations of her. However in 1996 she adopted the name Jordan which was alter ego so could be seen as artificial because she wasn't acting as her normal self, which was Katie, she was acting as a different person.

The second image of Katie Price was taken in 2001 which was when she had her breasts enlarged from a cup size B to a DD which is massive transformation. As well as this Katie had liposuction, lip fillers and nose jobs which would be seen as very artificial and could've been done because at this point Katie was in the public eye alot due to being a glamour model. However a year after Katie gave birth to her first son Harvey which in a way would've made people respect her more as a mother. This differs from the first image as she seems to be wearing a lot of heavy make-up as well as dying her hair blonde.

The third image of Katie price is from 2004 and in this picture she seems to have toned down the heavy make-up as well as dressing casual. Around this time the representation of her was changing as she was introduced into television shows like I'm a celebrity get me out of here and a year after this she released her own her fitness CD which would been seen as typical for a 'celebrity' to do alongside her documentaries because she would be used to having her life constantly in the public eye for everyone and anyone to see which the picture shows, her at a social convention.

The fourth image is Katie Price in 2009, it was around this time that Katie started doing a lot of different media such as having her own column in O.K magazine and various autobiographies. In 2009 she shifted from being a model to a business woman who had her own equestrian range which included rugs, riding boots and even her own book collection. This would've been seen as typical of her due to her owning horses and at this time she would've appealed to people who liked horses as well as kids who her books was aimed at. The image of her is from a book signing she did for one of her autobiographies.

The fifth image is Katie Price in 2012, she had now moved from books and television into the music industry where she released her own album however she was never respected as an artist and more of a business woman as well as a author. The image is of her promoting her new perfume which would be seen as typical for her to have many product lines as they would be more successful due to having many fans which are mainly women.
The last image is Katie Price currently in 2015. In this picture you can tell that she is doing an interview for This morning, the TV show. Here she's presented as quite natural because she's discarded the heavy make-up as well as getting a breast reduction. Her representation is different here than it is to earlier in her life as she's respected more as a mother as well as a businesswoman. Now she would appeal middle-aged woman as well as other mothers.
