Research into camerawork

Shot types 

Extreme closeup(ECU): This is usually of facial features like the eyes, ears, mouth ect. And is used to express emotion.

Big closeup(BCU): This is a shot of someone's face with the top and bottom of the head cut off; showing facial expression. 










Closeup(CU): This is a shot of the head and neck. 

Medium closeup(MCU): This is a shot of the head down to the shoulders. 

Mid shot(MS): This is a shot of the head down to the waist. 

Medium long shot(MLS): This is a shot of the head down to the knees 

Long shot(LS): This is a full body shot. 

Very long shot(VLS): This is a shot of the whole body from afar. 

Two shot: This is a shot of two people together. 

Over the shoulder shot: This is a shot of person taken from behind another person's shoulder.












Angles 

High: A high angle is a shot of a person taken from above.

Low: A low angle is a shot of a person taken from below. 

Canted(Tilt): This is a shot of a person where the camera is tilted at an angle. 

















Movement 

Push in: This is a video where you flinch towards the subject. 

Pull out: This is a video where you flinch the camera away from the subject. 

Crab: This is a video where you film whilst walking in a sideways motion without moving the camera. 

Arc: This is a video where you start from behind one person and arc around them until you are behind the other person. 

Tilt: This is a video where you tilt the camera starting from above them to filming below them. 

Pan: This is when you film the subject moving the camera sideways without moving.
